If you have a finished or nearly-finished film, the logical next step in the process is gaining notice for your work - whether that comes from finding publicity, distribution, audiences or sales. Unless you made your movie to be admired strictly as a work of art, you need to profit from your efforts, and that means ultimately securing some sort of commercial exploitation of the project.
There are many paths to securing a commercial distribution deal, and no one way is more right or wrong. It really is a project specific decision. Finding a buyer for your movie also sometimes relies on being in the right place at the right time (luck) and can even depend on the economy, current events or the political climate.
But, more often than not, gaining a commercial distribution agreement that will get your movie placed in retail, rental and online stores and in foreign markets, is a function of relationships. You know the saying…"it's who you know."
The Bosko Group has the relationships and contacts to get your movie sold, and, we are seeking some great movies to represent. Our current roster of clients boasts a number of wonderfully great films, including:
- 4th and Long
- Alice in Wasteland (SOLD)
- Bridge to Nowhere
- Circle Track Summer
- Consignment (SOLD)
- Hell House
- In With Thieves (SOLD)
- June 9
- The Legend Trip (SOLD)
- Side Sho (SOLD)
- Witches' Night (SOLD)
If you have a completed, or near complete feature-length (75 minutes+) film, we'd like to speak with you. Bosko Group is actively seeking films of all genres to sell into the commercial marketplace. Whether it is a direct-to-DVD deal, limited theatrical, digital, library or ancillary deal you are seeking, we can help. Some important points:
- We do not work with all films, only those movies for which we believe we can find deals
- We only work with a limited number of clients at any one time
- While we are interested in all genres, today's market favors action, high-quality horror and family features, and broad-audience documentaries
- We do best finding deals for those films made with budgets ranging from $75,000-$350,000
- Finding a deal for a film is not a quick process
- We are careful to ensure that you are comfortable with our approach to finding a deal for your film
Give us a call or send an email at anytime. It is never too early to begin thinking about distribution. Even if you just have a general question, or want some advice, please, contact us at anytime.
It is important to realize that selling your movie can be done without the services of a distribution representative. It happens all the time, and there are many successful filmmakers who have never worked with a rep. However, most independent filmmakers don't like taking on this step in the filmmaking process. It means you have to master a whole new set of skills (salesmanship), learn an industry in which you are probably unfamiliar (distribution), begin to create a network of contacts (buyers and acquisition executives), and learn to become patent and face rejection.
